9-Channel Discrete Amplifier with ECO Mode

The AVR-X4400H features a power amplifier section with all 9 channels configured identically, employing discrete high-current-capable power transistors. Each channel is rated at 125 watts (8 Ohms, 20 Hz to 20 kHz, 0.05% THD) and all channels are able to safely drive lower impedance speakers (down to 4 Ohms). Denon's ECO mode adjusts power consumption according to signal level, and there's an on-screen ECO Mode display that lets you see in real time how much energy ECO mode is saving. Additionally, the 9-channel amplification allows for setting up a 7.1.2- or 5.1.4-channel 3D experience without the need for an external amplifier. By using an external amplifier, the setup can get extended to 7.1.4, as the AVR-X4400H features 11.2-channel processing. If not in use for 3D audio, the integrated amplifiers can get assigned to drive another pair of speakers in a second audio zone running a different source than the main room.

Dual Subwoofer Outputs

A single subwoofer can give an uneven bass response at the main listening position, with audible peaks and dips. The AVR-X4400H provides connectivity for two subwoofers; positioned in different locations, they will even-out the low frequencies for more accurate bass anywhere in the listening area. It also provides Audyssey Sub EQ HT to give individual tailoring of each subwoofer via digital signal processing.

Smart TV Connectivity

Using the HDMI CEC (consumer electronics control) functionality provided on some smart TVs, it's possible to control Denon receivers with the TV's remote. Set the receiver's "HDMI control" to ON, choose the "Smart Menu" receiver control function on the TV, and the Smart Menu home screen allows direct access to a range of receiver functions, including source and surround mode, the main setup menu, and the Smart Select "one-touch" presets.

Audyssey Room Correction Suite

Equipped with the Audyssey Platinum suite of DSP algorithms, the AVR-X4400H features Audyssey MultEQ XT32 automatic room acoustic correction. With the supplied microphone, MultEQ XT32 analyzes each speaker's output (including the subwoofers) at up to eight measurement locations and generates digital filters that optimize each channel for the correct frequency and time domain response. Audyssey Dynamic Volume smooths out annoying jumps in volume, such as TV commercials, letting you listen at lower levels and still enjoy clear dialogue, music, and sound effects. Audyssey Dynamic EQ provides tonal tailoring for full-range clarity at nearly any listening level. Audyssey Low Frequency Containment uses psychoacoustic algorithms to deliver a full-range tonal balance, including deep bass, but without disturbing close-by neighbors or family members in other rooms. It also features a multi-step adjustment that lets you dial-in the amount of containment to your preference. Audyssey Sub EQ HT provides individual DSP tailoring of each subwoofer in a dual-subwoofer setup for deeper bass with improved definition compared to a single-subwoofer configuration.

Audyssey MultEQ Editor App

This app allows you to view and customize the sound more precisely to the specifics of your room, and tailor it to your personal preferences. The app provides functionality to view the speaker detection results, view the before and after results of the Audyssey calibration, edit the resulting Audyssey curve for each channel pair, adjust the overall EQ frequency rolloff for each channel pair, and adjust the target sound curve high-frequency rolloff. The Audyssey MultEQ app is available for purchase from the Apple App Store, Google Play, or the Amazon app store.

Wired Multi-Source/Multi-Zone Support

You can enjoy your favorite movie in the main room while others enjoy stereo sound from different sources in two other rooms, because the AVR-X4400H is equipped with pre-amp outputs for a 2nd zone and 3rd zone. There's also a dedicated HDMI output for 2nd-zone audio and video so you can watch and enjoy two different video sources at the same time.

Designed for Easy Setup and Use

The AVR-X4400H's graphic on-screen display is designed to be easy to understand as it guides you through the set-up process to ensure the correct configuration. The Setup Assistant and the included Quick Start Guide together provide easy setup instructions, leading you step-by-step to optimize critical settings for the best possible sound and video quality with the rest of your system.

Easy-to-Use Quick Select Functions

Four Quick Select function buttons on the front panel and the remote control let you choose your favorite sources; each one remembers your preferred set-up and sound mode for that source, and you can use them to store your favorite Internet radio stations.

Front-Panel USB Port

With the front-panel USB port, you can connect a USB drive and listen to files from MP3 to high-resolution DSD (2.8/5.6 MHz) and lossless FLAC (up to 24-bit/192 kHz).

Color-Coded 4-Way Speaker Terminals

The speaker terminals feature 4-way connection capability to handle a number of speaker cable terminations, including banana plugs. They're also color-coded to help ensure the correct hook-up, with matching color-coded labels for your speaker cables supplied.

External Control and IP Control Capabilities
